2009 Officers Elected

On January 9, 2009 the annual election meeting was held at Concordia. The following offers were elected into office.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I am looking forward to a  great year at Concordia.  Thank you to all of the members who donate their time and also to those who contributed extra with their dues to help the club.  We are planning lots of events for 2009.  I hope to see you at some of them and hope you enjoy all we are planning for the year.  This is just the beginning so stop down and enjoy!      

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

There are many ways you can volunteer to help at the club.  We need people to do regular building maintenance, plan events, dinners or get involved on a committee.  A club such as ours needs dedicated volunteers to make things happen.  Please consider helping in any way you can.     Sincerely, Don Jr.

Range News

The range has been busy through the winter with Wednesday night pistol league and 22 rifle matches held on various weekends.  For more information you can stop down the range on a Wednesday evening or check out the league     website at NVPL.SELFIP.NET.

There are a few events already planned for the range coming up.

March 15  from 12 to 4 p.m. a 22 Light Rifle match

March 29 from 12 to 4 p.m. a 22 Rifle Silhouette Match.

NRA handgun safety courses are being offered at the club.  The course covers everything required to get a CT State pistol permit.  The course is held in one day and Concordia members receive a discount.  Space is limited.  Dates and times to be posted at the club.

Also, some league lockers at the bottom of the stairs are being used by individuals.  The league may need them in the future.  Anyone who is using them must leave their name and phone number with the league before the end of March.  You can contact a league officer on any Wednesday evening.

Membership Drive

We will be trying something new this year in an attempt to gain new members.  The member who sponsors the most new members during the year will receive next year’s membership for free!  Rules are:

* The proposed member must join prior to the December 11, 2009 general meeting.

* You must sponsor the person yourself and attend the meeting he or she is being proposed at on the second Friday of the month.

Other Information

The club has been taking many steps to reduce our expenses.  We all know these are tough times.  We have installed energy saving light bulbs, shut off an old refrigerator in the kitchen, removed the dumpster and a member has volunteered to take the trash to the dump.   Also, the bartenders are volunteering some of their time to help the club during these hard economic times.  When you stop down remember to thank all that are donating and volunteering their time.

Remember we are always looking for suggestions for things to do, ways to save money and anything else you may think is important.  Come to the next membership meeting on Friday April 10th and let us know what you think.
